Programs

To reflect the anatomy of the vocal folds, we will organize our projects into distinct sonic layers. On our roster, music producers, songwriters, and recording artists will collaborate to level up their studio skills while using music to break down real-world concepts.

In our programs, music producers will build instrumentals that evoke raw emotion, songwriters will tell compelling stories through melody and lyrics, and recording artists will deliver powerful vocal performances. Depending on their comfort level, teens will choose what depth fits their vision. They can jump into Layer One—inspired by the flexible outer cover, or mucosa—to explore the foundation of social themes like identity, self-esteem, body image, friendship, navigating crushes or innocent infatuation, big emotions, and safe versus unsafe touch. Alternatively, they can step into Layer Two—mirroring the elastic transition layer, or ligament—to map out the good, the bad, and the ugly of dating and relationships, focusing on consent and how to identify emotional, verbal, physical, and sexual abuse. To keep these concepts grounded and supportive, teens will explore these themes through our Once Upon a Character method, using relatable characters and creative scenarios to build a strong foundation in sovereignty without overwhelming them. To learn more, go to the "Accessibility" section of our FAQs page.

These collaborative projects will teach everyone involved—the music producers, songwriters, recording artists, and listeners—how to navigate these life complexities. Our dual mission will be to pitch and release exceptional, professional records while using our studio pipeline to forge a deep sense of personal or relational sovereignty. You can secure a spot for your teen at any time by submitting an application, completing a 15-minute interview, and (if accepted), paying 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100% of our standard rate.

Our live studio sessions will take place on SessionWire (for high-fidelity remote recording and mixing when a roster member cannot or does not want to do it themselves). To prevent eye strain and fatigue, sessions will be structured with a 50% off-screen / 50% on-screen ratio of activities (read about our full screen time stance under the "Curriculum" section of our FAQs page):

1. The Recording Artist Program: Teens will work on their voice, audio engineering, branding, and more. After their first 12 months of recording songs, we will start releasing their songs through our record label as they continue to grow.

   • Recording Only Track: Teens will focus on singing or rapping with a one-on-one, 30-minute artist development session each week. Funded by the Jazmin Crumley Grant, their parents and guardians will invest...

     • 25% ($300/month) for a 30-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 3 releases/year after the first 12 months, and foundational support from Marcellé and her colleagues,​

     • 50% ($600/month) for a 30-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 6 releases/year after the first 12 months, and moderate support from Marcellé and her colleagues,

     • 75% ($900/month) for a 30-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 9 releases/year after the first 12 months, and substantial support from Marcellé and her colleagues, or

     • 100% ($1,200/month) for a 30-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 12 releases/year after the first 12 months, and the highest amount of support Marcellé and her colleagues can give.

   • Recording & Songwriting Track: Teens will write their songs with Marcellé and have a one-on-one, 45-minute artist development session each week. Funded by the Day'nah Evans Grant, their parents and guardians will invest...

     • 25% ($400/month) for a 45-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 3 releases/year after the first 12 months, and foundational support from Marcellé and her colleagues,​

     • 50% ($800/month) for a 45-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 6 releases/year after the first 12 months, and moderate support from Marcellé and her colleagues,

     • 75% ($1,200/month) for a 45-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 9 releases/year after the first 12 months, and substantial support from Marcellé and her colleagues, or

     • 100% ($1,600/month) for a 45-minute one-on-one studio session each week, 12 releases/year after the first 12 months, and the highest amount of support Marcellé and her colleagues can give.

   • Recording, Songwriting, and Music Production Track: Teens will write and produce their songs with Marcellé, utilizing a one-on-one, hour-long artist development session each week. Funded by the Xylo Aria Grant, their parents and guardians will invest...

     • 25% ($500/month) for a 1-hour one-on-one studio session each week, 3 releases/year after the first 12 months, and foundational support from Marcellé and her colleagues,​

     • 50% ($1,000/month) for a 1-hour one-on-one studio session each week, 6 releases/year after the first 12 months, and moderate support from Marcellé and her colleagues,

     • 75% ($1,500/month) for a 1-hour one-on-one studio session each week, 9 releases/year after the first 12 months, and substantial support from Marcellé and her colleagues, or

     • 100% ($2,000/month) for a 1-hour one-on-one studio session each week, 12 releases/year after the first 12 months, and the highest amount of support Marcellé and her colleagues can give.

2. The Songwriter Program: Teens will work together as a writing team and receive one-on-one help from instructors asynchronously. They will meet with Marcellé every Saturday from 3:00 pm PST to 4:30 pm PST (5:00 pm CST to 6:30 pm CST or 6:00 pm EST to 7:30 pm EST) to study toplining (melody), lyric writing, and vocal arranging while developing their singing or rapping skills. After their first 12 months of songwriting, we will pitch their work for artist placements and other opportunities through our music publisher.    • 25% ($150/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 3 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and foundational one-on-one support from Marcellé and her colleagues,​

   • 50% ($300/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 6 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and moderate one-on-one support from Marcellé and her colleagues,

   • 75% ($450/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 9 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and substantial one-on-one support from Marcellé and her colleagues, or

   • 100% ($600/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 12 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and the highest amount of one-on-one support Marcellé and her colleagues can give.

3. The Music Producer Program: Teens will work together as a production team and receive one-on-one help from instructors asynchronously. They will meet with Marcellé every Saturday from 12:30 pm PST to 2:00 pm PST (2:30 pm CST to 4:00 pm CST or 3:30 pm EST to 5:00 pm EST) to study sound design, beatmaking, and post-production. After their first 12 months of music production, we will pitch their work for sync licensing and other music industry opportunities through our publisher.    • 25% ($150/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 3 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and foundational one-on-one support from Marcellé and her colleagues,​

   • 50% ($300/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 6 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and moderate one-on-one support from Marcellé and her colleagues,

   • 75% ($450/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 9 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and substantial one-on-one support from Marcellé and her colleagues, or

   • 100% ($600/month) for a 1.5-hour small group studio session each week, 12 pitches/year after the first 12 months, and the highest amount of one-on-one support Marcellé and her colleagues can give.

4. The Independent Program: This is our low-cost program for ages 8+ who want to make music without committing to our roster. It will provide independent recording artists, songwriters, and music producers with fun challenges, self-paced courses, live workshops, and the option to purchase individualized feedback as needed. Made possible by the Sandra Youmans Grant, parents and guardians of those ages 13–18 will invest...

   • $25/month for their teen to learn as an Independent Artist, or​

   • $50/month for their teen to learn as an Independent Artist and Writer, or

   • $75/month for their teen to learn as an Independent Artist, Writer, and Producer.

5. The Vocalist Program: This is our free program for ages 8+ who want to grow as singers or rappers without having to write, produce, or record songs. Made possible by the Elle Holiday Grant, it will include pre-recorded voice lessons, vocal workouts, a warm-up routine, a cool-down regimen, and vocal health tips.
