Community
At Once Upon a Voice, our private Discord community, Marcelland, will serve as a sanctuary where vocalists, recording artists, songwriters, and music producers 8 and older can come together to master their craft. Made possible through the Elle Holiday Grant for our Vocalist Program, the Sandra Youmans Grant for our Independent Program, and other grants for our Roster, Marcelland will offer a structured home for every stage of development. Members will enter under dedicated roles—from Residents honing vocal fundamentals and Citizens, Knights, Dames, Barons, and Baronesses in our Independent Program to Roster members with the royal titles of Viscounts, Viscountesses, Earls, Countesses, Marquesses, Marchionesses, Dukes, Duchesses, Princes, Princesses, Kings, and Queens.
Across every tier, our community will be anchored by core educational tools designed to keep creation safe, empowering, and accessible. Every member will use our Three-Layer System to construct technique, tracks, and arrangements step-by-step without overwhelm, alongside our signature Once Upon a Voice Character Method to connect with storytelling behind protective character boundaries. Built for diverse learning styles, Marcelland will feature sensory-friendly structures that are trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and accessible with accommodations for all—incorporating muscle memory, tactile input, visual cues, and customizable AI synthesis tools so those who are Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and AAC-using creators can fully participate in our offerings.
Above all, Marcelland will stand as a protective sanctuary where survivors of gender-based violence and their allies can actively support one another and build connection. Beyond vocal technique, audio engineering, songwriting, and music production, our community will feature dedicated spaces where members can reflect on our blog posts centered around age-appropriate topics, such as self-worth (ages 8+), boundaries (ages 8+), relationships (ages 13+), and intimacy (ages 18+). Whether exploring free resources as a Vocalist, purchasing extra feedback on specific songs as an Independent, or receiving all-inclusive support with complimentary feedback included as a Roster member, every creator will gain the creative fluency, literacy, and sovereignty needed to navigate the music industry safely.
Vocalists
At Once Upon a Voice, we believe that vocal education belongs to all people, regardless of financial barriers. The Vocalist Program for ages 8 to adult will be our free training initiative designed specifically for singers and rappers who want to build technique without having to write, produce, or record songs. This program will be made possible by the Elle Holiday Grant, named in honor of the speech-language pathologist who developed and taught the VET vocal pedagogy certification program that Marcellé completed. Supplementing our social media content, the program will follow a structured curriculum focused on respiration, phonation, resonance, and expression, pairing technique breakdowns with cover-song tutorials.
To foster long-term development and meaningful connection, Vocalists in this program will enter our private Discord community, Marcelland, as Residents. By simply joining our community, Residents will gain access to our live monthly workshop for singers and rappers, as well as music theory, voice, and live performance courses, designed with sensory-friendly activities to accommodate all skill levels. Inside Marcelland, Residents will use our Layer System to build vocal stamina while applying our Character Method to connect with the stories of songs behind sustainable boundaries. Utilizing our monthly vocal workout, warm-up, cool-down, and health guide, singers and rappers will refine their craft alongside survivors of gender-based violence and their allies.
Our free live monthly workshop will serve as a vibrant, collaborative space where Residents can gather to learn voice science, observe vocal fold mechanics, and practice technique together. Designed with clear visual text overlays, accurate closed captioning, and predictable, low-sensory structures, these sessions will provide a high-value entry point for all vocalists, including those who are Deaf, hard-of-hearing, or use AAC. For creators looking to go beyond group workshops, members of our Independent Program will be able to purchase individualized feedback—a service that comes complimentary for our Roster. Meanwhile, consistent 1-on-1 instruction will remain exclusive to our Roster, ensuring every tier offers a clear pathway for growth.

Recording Artists
At Once Upon a Voice, our Independent Program for artists ages 8 to adult will be made possible by the Sandra Youmans Grant, named in honor of Marcellé’s choir teacher who first encouraged her singing and supported her music career. Designed to help artists develop their style and career, this initiative will teach artists about the music industry and audio engineering alongside the concepts in our Vocalist Program. Artists will complete dedicated courses in branding, entrepreneurship, and recording through self-paced modules. The branding and entrepreneurship courses will help artists build their authentic identities, while the recording course will equip them to capture and polish their vocals for post-production. This curriculum will be tailored for diverse learning styles, featuring sensory-friendly structures that are trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and accessible.
To foster practical growth and meaningful connection, artists in this program will enter our private Discord community, Marcelland, as Citizens. Every month, Citizens will receive an artist-specific challenge and join a live workshop focused on artistic skills—such as vocal blending, bending, and ad-libbing. Each challenge will include personalized instructor feedback, with the option to purchase extra feedback on specific songs. For Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and AAC-using artists, challenges and workshop activities will be completed through muscle memory, tactile input, visual cues, and customizable AI voice synthesis tools. By combining our Layer System with our signature Character Method, artists will build stage and studio performances while maintaining sustainable boundaries—creating a safe sanctuary where Citizens can refine their craft alongside survivors of gender-based violence and their allies.
While our Independent Program will offes self-paced autonomy at a low cost, artists seeking consistent 1-on-1 mentorship, expert audio engineering, and official releases are invited to join our Roster. Roster members will receive all Independent Program workshops, challenges, and courses fully integrated into their membership with complimentary ongoing feedback between live studio sessions. Whether navigating Marcelland as an independent artist or collaborating with peers and instructors on our Roster, recording artists will gain the creative fluency, literacy, and sovereignty needed to excel in the music industry with confidence. These courses will equip creators to write seamlessly for themselves or craft commercial songs for others while keeping our sensory-friendly curriculum structure trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming, and accessible to diverse learning styles and needs.
