Ages 0–18 Months: Music Class
Music for Connection, Sound Exploration, and Bonding 🧙🏿♂️
Service Description
In this gentle, trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming class, infants join toddlers and preschoolers in a shared 45-minute session where music serves as a foundation for listening, rhythm, and early creative growth. While all ages learn together, infants are introduced to calming melodies, vocal play, and simple ASL signs taught to highlight phrasing and expression while naturally supporting emerging language. Families may choose to transition out after the first 15 minutes, though you are warmly welcome to stay for the full duration to observe or participate alongside enrolled older siblings. Infants engage through sound, movement, and emotion, responding to pitch, beat, and dynamic contrast modeled by the instructor alongside their older peers. Songs, rocking patterns, and call-and-response encourage awareness of breath, rhythm, and musical interaction in a nurturing, age-appropriate way. This unified environment allows infants to observe more complex movements from toddlers and preschoolers while staying grounded in the sensory exploration and bonding activities specifically tailored for their earliest developmental needs. The instructor uses a MIDI keyboard and live production textures to create sensory-rich soundscapes, introducing tone, timbre, and layering to the entire group. Though infants are not expected to sing or play, witnessing the interactive participation of the older students helps cultivate listening skills, motor coordination, and curiosity—laying the groundwork for future singing, songwriting, and musical fluency. This collaborative setting honors each child’s pace, whether they are just beginning to explore sound or are moving toward formal training. Weekly assignments, in-class feedback, and semi-annual progress updates help families extend music-based exploration at home across all early childhood stages. Activities are flexible and developmentally responsive, ensuring that every infant can participate meaningfully at their own stage within the broader 45-minute class structure. By offering a single weekly time for all early childhood families, we celebrate a diverse, musical community that supports each child’s journey from birth through age six in one supportive space.

Booking Policy
At Once Upon a Voice, we are committed to creating a smooth and supportive learning environment for all students and their families. These guidelines are designed with a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach to address diverse needs while ensuring fairness and consistency. A parent or legal guardian must remain on screen with the student throughout the group lesson. Only registered students may participate, and if multiple children wish to join, each must be enrolled individually to ensure appropriate attention and resources for everyone. Due to the structured nature of group lessons, rescheduling is not possible. However, students who miss a session can access a recording to review the material and stay on track. If students or their parents arrive late for a group class, the session will still end at the scheduled time to respect the group’s schedule. If unforeseen circumstances cause a delay, please notify us so we can accommodate your needs while maintaining the group’s flow. Consistent attendance and active participation are essential for progress. Frequent absences, tardiness, or failure to meet the required parent involvement may result in limited scheduling options or dismissal from the studio. While we are always open to discussing individual needs, we ask for a commitment to the agreed-upon schedule to ensure the best experience for everyone. Students who are unable to continue classes indefinitely due to physical or mental health concerns may request prorated refunds, calculated from the date we receive medical documentation. Temporary absences do not qualify for refunds unless the instructor is unavailable, but students can access accommodations such as recorded sessions to stay engaged. By following these policies, we can create a fair, engaging, and effective learning environment. Let us know how we can best support your family’s musical journey.
