Service Description

Our trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming masterclasses are the only live service designed exclusively for adult singers and songwriters. Meeting once a month, we gather for shared learning, creativity, and human connection—the kind of growth that self-paced study cannot replace. Singing and songwriting remain at the center, while piano and music production are threaded through every session to add depth and clarity. Each class opens with practical instruction in vocal technique—breath coordination, resonance, phrasing, and style—and in songwriting craft, including lyric development, melody, and form. Phrasing and harmony are demonstrated at the piano, and Ableton Live Suite is used as a supportive tool to illustrate arrangement, layering, and expressive effects. Electronic and experimental approaches such as sampling, synthesis, live looping, and sound design are integrated to expand artistic range. The goal is always real-world artistry: clear, applicable methods that can be used immediately. Participants then move into guided, multi-level activities that allow every adult—whether early-stage, returning, or established—to apply the concepts in meaningful ways. Activities may include setting lyrics to melody, reshaping phrasing through improvisation, or comparing how production choices alter interpretation across acoustic, electronic, and hybrid textures. The emphasis remains on discovery, creativity, and authentic expression rather than perfection. Each session is recorded and shared privately for later review. Subscriptions include monthly asynchronous coaching, with the number of sessions varying by tier, to provide individualized feedback and continued growth. Between classes, The Lyric Isles—our private online community—keeps participants connected, supported, and inspired to create.

Booking Policy

At Once Upon a Voice, we are committed to providing a supportive and accessible learning environment for every participant. Our policies are shaped through a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach that balances flexibility with fairness. Masterclasses are open only to registered adults. To protect the integrity of the group, each participant must be individually enrolled. Friends, family members, or guests may not attend unless they are registered themselves. We understand that adult learners often balance work, family, and personal commitments. While we encourage live attendance for connection and interaction, we recognize that missing a session is sometimes unavoidable. Every masterclass is recorded and made available to participants, ensuring that learning can continue even if you cannot join in real time. Classes begin and end at the scheduled time. If you arrive late, you are welcome to join in progress, but the session will still conclude as planned to respect everyone’s time. Should technical issues arise, our team and Muzie, the platform we use, are available to help minimize disruption. Refunds are only granted in the case of prolonged withdrawal due to physical or mental health concerns, with prorating beginning from the date documentation is received. Temporary absences do not qualify for refunds, but session recordings and group resources remain available to support ongoing engagement. By honoring these guidelines, we can provide a fair and reliable masterclass experience for all participants. We welcome you to reach out at any time if you need support navigating your musical journey.
