Ages 6–9 Years: Singing Workshop
Beginner Development of Voice and Phonics Mastery 🧝🏻♀️
Service Description
In small-group singing workshops for ages 6–9, students build foundations in vocal technique while nurturing phonics, musical expression, and early creativity. Instruction focuses on healthy chest voice development, pitch accuracy, diction, and breath awareness through playful songs and musical theatre-based repertoire. Call-and-response, echo singing, and short melodic phrases guide exploration of tone, resonance, and articulation in a supportive group setting. Piano supports pitch matching, melodic direction, and early theory. Students practice white key names, finger numbers, and hand position while playing short melodies with color-coded visuals and kinesthetic games. Rhythm tracking, clapping patterns, and exposure to the grand staff build fluency in engaging, age-appropriate ways. Production builds on skills from early childhood classes. Using a MIDI keyboard and BandLab, students create simple beats and melodies, sing with loops and tracks, and explore how tempo, texture, and harmony shape expression. These tools reinforce rhythm, phrasing, and mood through guided digital play. Workshops are trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming, with weekly activities, session recordings, and semi-annual progress reports helping families stay engaged and connected.

Booking Policy
At Once Upon a Voice, we are committed to creating a smooth and supportive learning experience for all students and their families. Our policies are designed with a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach to meet diverse needs while maintaining fairness and consistency. Parents or guardians must remain reachable during workshops for students under 18 in case of technical difficulties, as we may need your assistance troubleshooting. Our team and Muzie, the platform we use for workshops, are available to provide support and minimize disruption. Please note that only registered students may participate. If multiple children wish to join, each must be enrolled individually to ensure an equitable experience for all participants. Consistent attendance is vital for student progress in workshops. Although sessions cannot be rescheduled, students who miss a session can access playback recordings on Muzie to review the material. If a student arrives late, the session will still end at the originally scheduled time to respect the group’s schedule. In cases of unforeseen delays, please notify us so we can accommodate your needs while maintaining the group’s structure. Frequent cancellations, tardiness, or no-shows disrupt the learning process and may result in limited scheduling options or dismissal. Open communication and a commitment to the agreed-upon schedule help ensure the group’s success. Students unable to continue indefinitely due to physical or mental health concerns may request prorated refunds, calculated from the date we receive medical documentation. Temporary absences do not qualify for refunds unless the instructor is unavailable, but students are encouraged to use accommodations such as recorded sessions to stay engaged. By following these guidelines, we can ensure a fair, equitable, and engaging learning environment for all participants. Let us know how we can best support you on your musical journey.
