Ages 18–36 Months: Music Class
Sound Recognition, Speech Development, and Play 🧙🏽
Service Description
This trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming class invites toddlers to explore music through sound, movement, and playful interaction. Children build early musical expression by imitating pitch, rhythm, and dynamics, while simple sign language highlights phrasing and gesture. Songs, call-and-response games, and visual cues foster confidence, coordination, and shared creativity. Students respond to live MIDI keyboard demonstrations with movement and gesture, developing awareness of pitch, tempo, and phrasing. Production tools are used in real time, with toddlers influencing mood and texture through their cues—introducing them to cause and effect in music-making. Songwriting is not yet formal, but vocal play is encouraged and celebrated. Core concepts such as high/low and fast/slow are explored through sensory-friendly activities, while rhythm and lyric games lay the foundation for future musical storytelling. Weekly assignments, in-class feedback, and semi-annual progress reports help families continue music-based exploration at home. Activities are flexible and multi-level, ensuring accessibility for all toddlers, including nonspeaking students and AAC-using students.

Booking Policy
At Once Upon a Voice, we are committed to creating a smooth and supportive learning environment for all students and their families. These guidelines are designed with a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming approach to address diverse needs while ensuring fairness and consistency. A parent or legal guardian must remain on screen with the student throughout the group lesson. Only registered students may participate, and if multiple children wish to join, each must be enrolled individually to ensure appropriate attention and resources for everyone. Due to the structured nature of group lessons, rescheduling is not possible. However, students who miss a session can access a recording to review the material and stay on track. If students or their parents arrive late for a group lesson, the session will still end at the scheduled time to respect the group’s schedule. If unforeseen circumstances cause a delay, please notify us so we can accommodate your needs while maintaining the group’s flow. Consistent attendance and active participation are essential for progress. Frequent absences, tardiness, or failure to meet the required parent involvement may result in limited scheduling options or dismissal from the studio. While we are always open to discussing individual needs, we ask for a commitment to the agreed-upon schedule to ensure the best experience for everyone. Students who are unable to continue lessons indefinitely due to physical or mental health concerns may request prorated refunds, calculated from the date we receive medical documentation. Temporary absences do not qualify for refunds unless the instructor is unavailable, but students can access accommodations such as recorded sessions to stay engaged. By following these policies, we can create a fair, engaging, and effective learning environment. Let us know how we can best support your family’s musical journey.
